Background
Background Information
Operation Iraqi Freedom II- I served one year in Iraq during OIF II. I performed duties overseeing the third search area for Camp Taji’s North Gate. My company assumed overall control of the gate, maintaining the first shift which had the heaviest work load and traffic of over 1000 of Iraq’s national workers and an average of 200 civilian vehicles into the base. Due to my diligence, discipline and firm supervision of the Iraqi Civil Defense Corp assigned to my area, no contraband entered through Castle Gate. I completed over 100 successful missions as part of a certified gun crew from Camp Anaconda and other surrounding cities. My crew performed every mission as the lead gun truck initially clearing the route and identifying any obstacles or threats to the convoy my diligence, attention to detail, preparation, execution and completion of each convoy ensured 100% mission accomplishment.
